Biography

Hinder is the very type of band that critics love to criticize. The gang, who emerged from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 2001, found success with their first album, with a post-grunge style infused with hard rock, following in the footsteps of Canadians Nickelback. Extreme Behavior in 2005 convinces audiences with the ballad "Lips of an Angel". This good-natured classicism is tempered by a grunge influence, but a clean grunge. 2008's Take It to the Limit also perched high on the Billboard charts (No. 4), while All American Nightmare, released at the end of 2010, marks the end of a well-calibrated formula. Despite a significant drop in popularity, Hinder continued with Welcome to the Freakshow in 2012, before the departure of lead singer Austin Winkler the following year. Marshal Dutton then came to the band's rescue, returning with their fifth album When the Smoke Clears (2015), followed by The Reign (2017). Failing a new album, several singles are distilled over the following years, "Long Gone" in 2018, "Life in the Fast Lane" in 2019 and "Unstoppable", a collaboration with No Resolve, in 2023. Finally, "Live Without It", which appeared in 2024, gave the signal for a new album, as did "Everything Is a Cult", "Bring Me Back to Life" and "Bad Decisions", included on the 8th studio opus Back to Life (2025).
