Biography
Hinayana, a melodic death/doom metal band from Austin, Texas, was formed in 2014 by vocalist and guitarist Casey Hurd as a one-man project. The band's name was derived from the Sanskrit word meaning "smaller vehicle" or "lesser path," reflecting themes of inner struggle and enlightenment. Hinayana released their debut demo album Endless in 2014 and self-released their first full-length album Order Divine in 2018. The band gained significant traction by sharing stages with notable acts such as Eluveitie and Ensiferum. Hinayana signed a re-release and distribution deal with Black Lion Records in October 2018, and released the EP Death of the Cosmic under Napalm Records in August 2020, featuring the single "Cold Conception". Their second full-length album, Shatter and Fall, was released on November 10, 2023.
