Biography
Carmen Mária Å tefánia FarkaÅ¡ová, also known as Hana Hegerová, born on October 20, 1931, in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, was a singer and actress. She began her career as an actress, playing the title role in the film Frona in 1954 under the name Hana Äelková. Her singing debut came in 1957 with Tatra Revue in Bratislava. In Prague, she performed at the Rokoko Theatre from 1958 until her retirement and appeared in notable productions such as the jazz opera "DobÅe placená procházka" by JiÅà Suchý and JiÅà Šlitr at the Semafor Theater. Her repertoire included chansons by Czech and Slovak authors, as well as interpretations of songs by Ãdith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and Kurt Weill. She received several honors, including the Medal of Merit from President Václav Havel in 2002 and the Order of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk from President MiloÅ¡ Zeman in 2014. She passed away on March 23, 2021.
