Biography
Halid BeÅ¡liÄ, born 20 November 1953 in Knežina, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, FPR Yugoslavia, was a Bosnian folk singer. After completing mandatory service in the Yugoslav People's Army, he moved to Sarajevo and began performing in local restaurants, releasing eight singles between 1979 and 1982, the first of which was "GreÅ¡nica". His breakthrough came with the studio album Sijedi starac (1981), followed by Pjesma samo o njoj (1982) and Dijamanti⦠(1984), the latter featuring the hit "NeÄu, neÄu dijamante". Throughout the 1980s, he issued other albums, including Otrov (1986) and Mostovi tuge (1988), and his 1990 release Opet sam se zaljubio solidified his popularity. The 2003 album Prvi poljubac introduced a new generation of listeners, while the 2013 album Romanija showcased collaborations with contemporary artists. BeÅ¡liÄ survived a serious car crash in 2009, returned to touring, and remained active until his death on 7 October 2025 in Sarajevo, where he was honored with a national day of mourning.
