Biography

Guy King is an Israeli-born blues and jazz guitarist and singer born in 1977. Raised in Israel, King began playing clarinet at age seven and guitar at thirteen. He toured the United States with an Israeli singing group at sixteen and served three years of compulsory military service before moving to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1999. In Chicago, he joined Willie Kent's band The Gents as a guitarist and eventually became the bandleader. After Kent's death, King started his solo career in 2006. His debut album Livin' It (2008) was followed by By Myself (2012), I Am Who I Am and It Is What It Is (2012), and Truth (2016) under Delmark Records. He released the studio album Joy Is Coming (2021). King is recognized for his unique guitar technique, similar to jazz musician Wes Montgomery.
