Biography

Gualberto Antonio Castro Levario, known professionally as Gualberto Castro, was a Mexican singer, actor, and television presenter born on July 12, 1934, in Mexico City. He performed as a backup dancer before joining the vocal group Los Hermanos Castro, also known as “The Brothers Castro”, which performed in Las Vegas and recorded the song "Yo sin ti". Following the group's separation, Castro began a solo career and released one album annually. In 1975, he won the international OTI Festival with the song "La felicidad". He released the album Qué mal amada estás in 1980. Castro performed with artists including Judy Garland and Paul Anka and portrayed Tony in the 1977 production of West Side Story. He served as the host for the television program La Carabina de Ambrosio during the 1980s. Castro died on June 27, 2019.
