Greg Koch, born June 2, 1966, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, is an American guitarist known for his work in blues, rock, and funk. He began playing guitar at age 12, inspired by Jimi Hendrix. Koch gained recognition after winning the 1989 Bluesbreaker Guitar Showdown, judged by Buddy Guy. In 1993, Greg Koch and the Tone Controls released their debut album Greg Koch and the Tone Controls. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with artists including Joe Bonamassa. In 2017, he formed the Koch Marshall Trio, whose debut album Toby Arrives was released the same year. Koch is also known for his educational contributions, authoring several guitar method books and providing lessons online. In April 2012, Fender named him one of the top 10 unsung guitarists. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Hall of Fame in 2023.
