Greetje Kauffeld, born 26 â¯Novemberâ¯1939 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, is a Dutch jazz singer who began her career in the early 1960s as a pop and Schlager performer. Her first single, "Niet Voor Mij" (1960), was followed by a series of German-language releases such as "Nur Eine Schlechte Kopie" (1961) and "Jeden Tag, Da Lieb' Ich Dich Ein Kleines BiÃchen Mehr" (1963). After signing with Polydor, she released her debut studio album And Let The Music Play in 1974, and continued with Days Of Summer (1975), Days of Love (1976), and Some Other Spring (1980). In 1987 she issued The Song Is You, a collection that highlighted her transition to jazz standards. Collaborations included recordings with Jerry Van Rooijen and Jiggs Wigham (1997) and the Dutch Jazz Giants Volumeâ¯1 (1999). Greetje Kauffeldâs work received recognition with the Order of the Netherlands Lion in 1999 and an Edison Jazz Oeuvre prize in 2014. Her discography spans studio albums, live recordings, and compilations, reflecting a sustained presence in both Dutch and German music scenes.
