Biography
Gonzalo Yáñez (born on May 8, 1983) is an Uruguayan-Chilean singer-songwriter and producer, mostly known for his involvement as the guitarist for both Los Prisioneros and Jorge Gonzálezâs backing band. Born in Montevideo, Yáñez relocated to Santiago de Chile in 1995, where he formed No Me Acuerdo with a couple of college friends. The group made its major-label debut with Nada Que Perder (2001), released via Warner Music, and eventually caught the attention of Chilean rock pioneer Jorge González, who produced their EP Cada DÃa Más in 2003. No Me Acuerdo disbanded before finishing their sophomore full-length, which Yáñez completed on his own and released as his eponymous solo debut in 2004. That same year, he was invited by González to join Los Prisioneros for the recording and subsequent promotional tour of their comeback album, Manzana. Shortly after the release of his EP Me Hiciste Pagar (2005), Yáñez decided to quit the band in 2006 to focus on his solo endeavors, namely his sophomore full-length, De Ida y Vuelta. In the following years, he released the LPs Dispara (2008), Careta (2012), and Vuelve a creer en mi (2016), while handling production duties for artists like Denise Rosenthal, MarÃa Jimena Pereyra, and Raquel Calderón. In 2018, Yáñez reaped the fruits of his prolific career with the compilation 15 Años de Canciones, which was followed by the release of the singles âSoledadâ and âLentoâ in 2020.
