Biography

Gomez & Dubois, a French rap group formed in 2003, consisted of rappers Faf Larage and Eben. The duo were known for their humorous take on the police industry, blending comedy with hip-hop music. Their debut album, Flics et hors la loi, was released on March 18, 2003, under RCA and Arista labels. The album reached number 24 on the French charts and was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique in 2004. Gomez & Dubois were initially part of a larger project involving other prominent French rappers, including Diam's and Sniper. However, they ultimately decided to focus on their own comedic rap duo, leading to the creation of Flics et hors la loi. The album's success was marked by its unique blend of humour and social commentary, which resonated with audiences. Following the release of their single "Ronde de nuit", the group's influence extended to other artists; notably, Amine achieved his first major success with "Sobri" in 2004, a duet with Leslie. The group's impact was also felt in the film industry, as they were originally slated to star in a movie titled Gomez et Tavarès, which was initially set to be directed by Luc Besson. Although the film did not see the light, it highlighted the duo's potential beyond music. Despite their relatively short career, which came to an end in 2003, Gomez & Dubois left a lasting impression on French rap, paving the way for future artists who combined humor with hip-hop.
