Biography

Gisselle Ortíz Cáceres, known mononymously as Gisselle, was born on March 28, 1969, in New York City to Puerto Rican parents. She is a singer focused on Meringue who began her artistic journey at the age of 15 by dancing and performing in various shows. Her transition into music started with her involvement in the all-female merengue group Kaviar for almost two years, followed by a stint with Punto G from 1991 to 1993. In 1995, she released her debut album under BMG, produced by Bonny Cepeda, featuring hits like "Perfume de mujer en tu camisa" and "Pesadilla". This album earned her gold and platinum certifications and multiple awards. Her subsequent albums included A Que Vuelve (1996), which sold 200,000 units, and Quiero Estar Contigo (1997). Gisselle also ventured into acting, appearing in various comedy sketches and theatrical productions. She received Grammy nominations for her albums Atada (1998) and 8 (2001).
