Biography
Pierre-Eugène Sitchet, known professionally as Gino Sitson, and born near Douala, Cameroon is a Cameroonian jazz musician. He began his musical journey as a drummer and later transitioned into singing and composing. His career started with vocal performances in advertisements for brands like Danone and Peugeot, and he contributed to the soundtracks of the film Jeanne et le Garçon formidable. In 1995, Sitson released his debut album, Vocal Deliria, which showcased his unique vocal techniques. He followed this with Song Zin'... (Vocadelic Tales) in 2002, which was named one of the top ten jazz albums of the year by the Los Angeles Times and nominated for a Kora Award. Sitson's subsequent albums include Bamisphere (2005), Way To Go (2009), and Listen (Vocal Deliria II) (2013). He has collaborated with notable artists such as Ron Carter, Jeff "Tain" Watts, and Bobby McFerrin. In 2017, Sitson earned a Doctorate in Musicology from Université Paris-Sorbonne.
