Biography

Geisha was an Australian pop rock band formed in Melbourne in 1983 as Geisha Detail with Chris Doheny on lead vocals and guitar. They shortened their name to Geisha and signed with EMI Records in 1984. Their debut single "Fool's Way" was released in March 1985, followed by the self-titled album Geisha in August 1985. The band achieved local success with singles like "Rainy Day" and "Kabuki". In 1986, Geisha released "Part Time Love Affair", their highest-charting single at number 24 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart. The band's second album, Midnight to Dawn, was released in October 1987. Despite lineup changes and moderate chart success, Geisha disbanded in mid-1988.
