Biography

GÃ¼nter Schickert, born on April 25, 1949, in Germany, was a guitarist and trumpeter. In the 1970s, Schickert was active in the Berlin Free-Jazz scene before transitioning into roles as a roadie and sound engineer for electronic music specialist Klaus Schulze. His breakthrough came in 1973 when he formed the trio GAM with Axel Struck on guitar and Michael Leske on drums. Shickert's debut album, Samtvogel (1974), marked his entry into the Krautrock genre. Throughout his career, Schickert has released several notable albums, including ÃberfÃ¤llig (1979), Kinder in der Wildnis (1983), and HaHeHiHo (2012). His collaborations with Klaus Schulze resulted in the album The Schulze-Schickert Session (2013). Schickert's work spans various genres, including electronic music and Berlin School. Shickert died on December 23, 2025.
