Biography

Born December 18, 1955 in Poland, Jacek Kochan is a drummer, composer, arranger and producer. Kochan began his career in his homeland in the 1970s, moving to New York in the 1980s, studying under Jaco Pastorius and Robbie Gonzales, among others. He relocated to Toronto, Canada in the 1990s, working alongside Michel Donato, Karen Young, Andrew Leroux, Yannick Rieu, Kenny Wheeler, Oliver Jones and more. He released his first album, Visitor, in 1992. He moved back to Europe in 1995 and continued to record and collaborate with other artists. Alongside his solo releases such as Alberta (1996) and Monorain (2001), he also collaborated with Joey Calderazzo and Lars Danielsson on Our Standards (1996), and John Abercrombie, Pat LaBarbera and Jim Vivian on Standard Transmission (1997). Later albums included Third of Three (2014), Parentes (with MusiConspiracy/2017), and Ajee (2018).
