Biography

Gaby Berger, born on January 14, 1952 in Überlingen, Germany, is a singer known for her contributions to pop and schlager music. During her school years, she sang with the student band "The Briskers." Her breakthrough came when director Dieter Pröttel introduced her at Talentschuppen, leading to her first record deal. In 1969, Berger released her debut single "Der große Fisch", which was followed by another hit, "Wenn einer dir 1000 Küsse verspricht". This song allowed her to participate in the German Schlager Contest that same year, where it placed high enough on the charts to sell over 100,000 copies. Giorgio Moroder, a well-known producer and composer, was one of the producers who worked with Berger during this period. Berger's career included appearances on various television shows such as ZDF-Hitparade, Aktuelle Schaubude, and Die Drehscheibe. In 1971, she represented Germany at the Festival Internacional de la Cancion Atlantico on Tenerife. Her other notable releases include "Zwei Karten für's Kino" in 1971 and several duets with Bernd Apitz under the name "Gaby & Bernd." After a hiatus from recording that lasted nearly three decades, Berger returned to music in 2001 and 2002 with new releases including "Manchmal träumen die Sterne" and a re-recorded version of her hit "Wenn einer dir 1000 Küsse verspricht".
