A native of Atlanta, Georgia, where he was born on November 20, 1983, Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, also known as Future, is one of the leading figures in Southern rap. With the support of his cousin Rico Wade, he collaborated with Gucci Mane and released several mixtapes, including True Story and Streetz Calling (2011). His debut album, Pluto (No. 8), was released in 2012. It features performances by Drake, T.I., Snoop Dogg, and R. Kelly. But it was his work as a producer and arranger on Rihannaâs album Unapologetic that really helped put him on the map. In 2014, his second album, Honest, featuring collaborations with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and Wiz Khalifa, cemented his status (No. 2). French rapper Kaaris then invited him to feature on the track âCrystalâ. Three new mixtapes preceded the release of DS2 (2015), which debuted at the top of the U.S. charts. After collaborating with Drake on the mixtape What a Time to Be Alive, Future surprise-released the album Evol (2016), which also reached number one. Still very active, he recorded two albums that were released almost simultaneously in 2017: Future (No. 1), with producers DJ Khaled and Metro Boomin, and HNDRXX (No. 1), featuring The Weeknd and Rihanna. He then released three mixtapes in 2018: KOLORBLIND (with DJ Esco), BEASTMODE 2 (with Zaytoven), and WRLD ON DRUGS (with Juice WRLD). In 2019, alongside the release of the album Future Hndrxx Presents: the WIZRD (No. 1), he collaborated on a track with Lil Baby, before returning to the studio to record a new album, titled High of Life, which was released in 2020 and once again reached No. 1 on the Billboard. The same was true for I Never Liked You in 2022, which featured collaborations with Kanye West, Gunna, Young Thug, Drake, Tems, EST Gee, and Kodak Black. A deluxe edition was even released just three days after the albumâs debut, featuring new tracks this time with collaborations from Babyface Ray, 42 Dugg, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, and Young Scooter. Two years later, Future teamed up with Metro Boomin for a two-part series, We Donât Trust You and We Still Donât Trust You, both of which reached No. 1 on the charts and featured collaborations with The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, J. Cole, and Ty Dolla Sign. That same year, he released his seventh mixtape, Mixtape Pluto (which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200), without any guest appearances. In 2025, this run earned him several Grammy Award nominations, including Best Rap Album for We Donât Trust You, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for âLike Thatâ, as well as Best Melodic Rap Performance for âWe Still Donât Trust Youâ featuring Metro Boomin and The Weeknd. The following year, Future joined Tyla on âGame Timeâ, a track linked to the official 2026 World Cup album, then returned as a solo artist with The Real Me, his tenth studio album released in July 2026 on Epic. Comprising 22 tracks, the album continues his melodic trap sound with more introspective lyrics, following a period marked by collaborations and the North American tour We Trust You with Metro Boomin.
