Biography

Born in Paris in 1982, François Joubert-Caillet became interested in Baroque music during his musical studies, and trained at the Schola Cantorum in Basel under Paolo Pandolfo, a former member of Jordi Savall's ensembles, as well as Rudolf Lutz. After winning first prize at the Bruges International Chamber Music Competition, he embarked on a career as a concert performer and masterclass teacher. In 2009, he formed the ensemble L'Achéron, with whom he recorded works by Holborne, Scheidt, Johann Bernhard Bach, Gibbons, Dowland and Erlebach for the Ricercar label. A specialist in the works of Marin Marais, he performs the complete works for viola da gamba in two volumes, the second of which was awarded a Diapason d'or in 2019. The following year saw the release of A Consort's Monument, a program of Renaissance arias.
