Franciscus Henricus Antheunis, known professionally as Franciscus Henri, was born on August 7, 1947 in The Hague, Netherlands. He migrated to Australia in 1956 and became a qualified secondary arts and craft teacher. Henri gained national prominence in 1970 when he competed on the TV talent quest New Faces, securing a recording contract with Melbourne-based independent label Fable Records. His debut single "Mary and Me" was released in September 1970, followed by his first albums Ding Dong Who Rang the Bell (1972) and Gabriel's Mother's Highway (1972). In 1997, Henri started performing as Mister Whiskers, releasing his first album under this moniker Hello Mister Whiskers, which was nominated for the Best Children's Album ARIA Award.
