Biography
Franca Masu is an Italian singer born in 1962 in Alghero. Masu performs in the Catalan language and her musical style includes influences from jazz, fado, tango, and world music. In the mid-1990s, she appeared on stage for the first time in a concert with clarinetist Tony Scott. In 2000, she released the debut album El Meu Viatge which received a mention for best debut album from the SGAE and Radio 4 Barcelona. In 2003, Masu released the album AlguÃmia featuring collaborations with Mauro Palmas and Salvatore Maltana. In 2006, she released the album Aquamare for which she served as the lyricist for most tracks. In 2010, she toured Canada and performed at the Vancouver Jazz Festival. In 2011, she released the live album 10 Anys which reached number 11 on the World Music Charts Europe Top 20. In 2013, she released the album Almablava. In 2021, she released the album Cordemar.
