Fonda Rae, born in the United States of America, is an American R&B singer whose early exposure to dance and electronic music set the stage for her career. Her first single, âOver Like a Fat Ratâ, appeared in 1982, followed by a series of club-oriented releases such as âTouch Me (All Night Long)â and âLive It Upâ that established her presence on the dance floor. In the mid-1980s she released âTouch Me (All Night Long)â, marking one of her early recording breakthroughs, and in 1998 she issued the mini-album Get Into You, recorded with Deep Bros. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Rae collaborated with artists including Don Armando, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Taka Boom, The Fat Boys, and Debbie Harry, while her singles âLiving In Ecstasyâ (1996) and âEN2Uâ (2000) contributed to her ongoing club presence. Her 2003 release âOver Like a Fat Rat (The Jazz-N-Groove Mixes)â showcased her versatility within the genre. Although her chart positions did not break into the mainstream top 40, her tracks maintained a steady presence in club playlists and influenced later artists, as evidenced by Grand Pubaâs song âFat Ratâ drawing from her original work. Raeâs career reflects a consistent contribution to dance and electronic music, which saw her catalog circulate in remix compilations and club rotations.
