FLOWER FLOWER was formed in 2013 in Japan by singerâsongwriter Yui, a musician from Fukuoka who had previously released five successful solo albums between 2006 and 2011. Yui assembled a group of musicians she respected, including keyboardist Jun Murayama, bassist Katsuhiro Mafune, and drummer Norihide Saji, and the band debuted with the single "Tsuki" in 2013, which was later used in a commercial campaign for the cellphone provider au. The groupâs early work included the EP Shiki (è²; 'Colors') (2016) and Mannequin (2017), and they performed at festivals such as Join Alive and Rock in Japan Festival. In 2014, FLOWER FLOWER released their debut album Mi on November 26, followed by the album Target on March 25, 2020; both releases were distributed by Sony Music Records. The band also contributed theme songs to the liveâaction adaptation of Little Forest in 2014 and 2015. While FLOWER FLOWERâs commercial impact remained modest, their consistent output and participation in major Japanese rock festivals cemented their presence in the contemporary Jârock scene.
