Biography
Film School, a five-piece indie rock band from Los Angeles and San Francisco, was formed in 1998 by lead singer Greg Bertens. The band released their debut album Brilliant Career on MeToo! records in 2001. They released their self-titled album in 2006 on Beggars Banquet Records, which included the singles "On & On" and "11:11". The band provided music for Demetri Martin's short films Clearification and an advertising campaign for Windows Vista. After lineup changes and a move to Los Angeles, they released their third album, Hideout, in 2007. Their fourth album, Fission, was released on Hi-Speed Soul in 2010. The band played what appeared to be their last official show on February 24, 2011. Subsequently, it became inactive until a reunion show on September 5, 2014, for a special one-off performance at San Francisco's Bottom of the Hill to celebrate Newenhouse's 40th birthday, which ultimately led to an official reunion. Their later releases included the albums We Weren't Here (2021) and Field (2023).
