Biography

Erstwhile Japanese rock troupe Field of View blossomed in 1995 with their first studio album, Field of View 1, which peaked at Number 1 on Japan's Oricon chart. Having assembled as a group the previous year, vocalist U-ya Asaoka, guitarist Takashi Oda, keyboardist Jun Abe and drummer (later bandleader) Takuto Kohashi signed to Tokyo's Zain Records – part of the Japanese private entertainment conglomerate Being Incorporated – under the initial name of View. They released two singles and an EP, before replacing Abe with bassist Kenji Niitsu and recording four more studio albums under the Field of View moniker; 1996's Field of View II, 1998's Field of View III ~Now Here No Where~, 1999's Lovely Jubbly, and 2000's Capsule Monster. The band split up in November 2002, but reconvened for the first time in 10 years in 2012 (minus keyboardist Jun Abe) for a live event staged by Being Inc. In January 2020, a new compilation album marking the band's 25th anniversary surfaced, which featured five new tracks and previously unpublished material.
