Biography

Amazarashi is a Japanese rock group formed in Mutsu, Aomori. The band was launched in January 2007 by vocalist/guitarist Hiromu Akita and keyboardist Manami Toyokawa. Although early releases like Hikari, Saikō, 0., and 0.6 all failed to chart, Amazarashi founded commercial success with its full-length debut album, Sennen Kōfukuron, which charted at number 12 in 2011. Over the next two years, the mini albums Rabu Songu, Nē Mama Anata no Iutōri, and Anta e all charted within the Top 20, as did the band's second album, Yūhi Shinkō Higashizumu, in 2014. One year later, "Kisetsu wa Tsugitsugi Shindeiku" climbed to number 11 on the Oricon Singles chart and number 13 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. "Supīdo to Masatsu" was released later that year and hit number 14. In 2016, Amazarashi reached a new peak on the albums chart with Sekai Shūsoku Ni Ichi Ichi Roku, which hit number 4. Chihō Toshi no Memento Mori followed in 2017 and reached number 6, and Amazarashi peaked again with 2020's Boycott, which hit number 2. Boycott featured the hit singles "Ribingu Deddo" and "Sayonara Gokko," both of which charted at number 9. Nanagō-sen Lost Boys arrived in 2022 and climbed to number 4, with Eienshi following in 2023 and hitting number 3. Their 8th album, Ghost, was released on April 9, 2025.
