Japanese musicians Arisa Ushimaru (vocals, guitar) and Gokkin (bass) established yonige in Neyagawa, Osaka in 2013. In 2015, they dropped the mini-album Coming Spring, gaining significant attention when the music video for its lead track, "Avocado," crossed 2 million views on streaming platforms. yonige marked their major debut in September 2017 with their first full album, girls like girls, released through unBORDE, a Warner Music Japan label. Following a live performance at Nippon Budokan in 2019, they released their second major album, Kenzen na Shakai å¥å
¨ãªç¤¾ä¼, in 2020. Later, they moved back to their former label, putting out their second album, a healthy society, in May 2020 and a mini-album titled Three Thousand Worlds in August. After terminating their contracts and becoming independent artists in 2022, the band released a revamped version of their 2015 track, "Psychedelic Yesterday," in September, subsequently announcing the release of their third album, Empire, with singles "walk walk" and "æããã£ã¦" appearing in December 2023.
