Ignis Fatuu, a medieval rock band from Nuremberg, Germany, was formed in November 2004. The group's initial lineup underwent several changes before Alexander Trappe joined in 2006. In 2007, Ignis Fatuu released their first promotional CD featuring five tracks. They gained significant exposure by performing at the Festival-Mediaval alongside groups like Ingrimm and Arundo. Their debut album Es werde Licht was released in 2009 after signing with Danse macabre. The band moved to Trollzorn Records in 2010 and performed at various festivals, including Hörnerfest and M'era Luna. In 2011, their second album Neue Ufer was released. Notable performances included opening for Feuerschwanz and appearances at Ragnarök and Hexentanz festivals. The band's third studio album Unendlich viele Wege, released in March 2014, reached number 91 on the German charts. Their fourth album Meisterstich followed in 2016.
