Biography

Feeder are one of the longest-running acts in Britpop history, having earned three platinum records over the course of a multi-decade career. Led by frontman Grant Nicholas, the band formed in Newport, Wales, in 1994. Their debut album Polythene was released three years later and received critical acclaim, but 1999's Yesterday Went Too Soon proved to be the band's commercial breakthrough, peaking at Number 8 in the UK and eventually going gold. Feeder's momentum continued with "Buck Rodgers," the lead single from 2001's platinum-selling Echo Park, which became a Top 5 hit and vaulted the band to festival-headliner status. Tragedy struck shortly thereafter, however, with drummer Jon Lee dying of suicide in 2002. Using music as a form of therapy, the band returned with the albums Comfort In Sound (2002) and Pushing The Senses (2005), then charted at Number 2 with a compilation album, The Singles, in 2006. Although 2008's "We are the People" marked the band's final Top 40 hit, Feeder continued cracking the Top 10 with a number of albums throughout the 2010s and early 2020s, with highlights including 2016's All Bright Electric, 2019's Tallulah, and 2022's Torpedo. Torpedo enjoyed a Top 5 chart status in the UK and was followed two years later by their twelfth LP, the double-album Black/Red, which marked the final instalment in a trilogy of albums that also comprised Tallulah and Torpedo. Feeder had teased the release of Black/Red in October 2023 with the singles "Playing With Fire" and "ELF."
