Fear Before, originally known as Fear Before the March of Flames, was an American post-hardcore band formed in Aurora, Colorado in July 2002 by vocalist David Marion, guitarist/vocalist Adam Fisher, bassist Michael Madruga, and drummer Brandon Proff. They took their name from a Denver Post headline about local wildfires. Their debut EP was released in 2002, which caught the attention of Rise Records. In July 2003, they released their first album Odd How People Shake, gaining further recognition after signing with Equal Vision Records and re-releasing the album in January 2004. The band's second album, Art Damage (2004), marked a shift towards a harder mathcore sound. Their third album, The Always Open Mouth (2006), showcased an experimental side with less screaming and more vocal interplay. In 2008, they released their self-titled fourth album. The band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2010.
