Fantomi was a successful Croatian rock'n'roll band, active from 1988 to 1994. Led by singer Robert MarekoviÄ, it also originally featured KreÅ¡imir MiÅ¡ak and Bruno Gracin (guitars), Danko StefanoviÄ (bass) and Bruno PeroviÄ (drums). Formed in Zagreb after the break-up of Voodoo Cats, the band released their first single "Beba Bebica" in 1989 , on the Yugoslav national label Jugoton. Fantomi's sometimes melodic, sometimes wilder rock'n'roll appealed to a young audience, who were delighted with the albums Veliki Odmor (1990) and Sretan Rodendan (1992), featuring covers of Christmas songs by Shakin' Stevens. However, disagreements between the musicians over the band's name led to the departure of the drummer, who left to form Novi Fantomi with singer Sandy Cernov. The original band toured extensively, releasing their third album Planet Majmuna in 1993. In 1994, Robert MarekoviÄ formed a new group with MiÅ¡ak and StefanoviÄ called Fantomi II, which produced the album Lice, released the following year. In 1998, the final album Iza Zatvorenih Vrata was released under the name Robert & Fantomi. The singer remains the only original member of the group, celebrated on the Greatest Hits (1996) and Zlatna Kolekcija (2006) compilations.
