Extol, a Norwegian metal band formed in Bekkestua in 1993, was founded by cousins David Husvik and Christer Espevoll. The duo began playing together in spring 1993 and soon recruited Peter Espevoll on vocals and Eystein Holm on bass. Extol's debut release was the demo Embraced in 1997, followed by their first album, Burial, released in December 1998 under Endtime Productions. The band gained critical acclaim for their technical precision and progressive style. In 2002, they signed with Century Media and released Synergy in 2003. Extol's fourth album, The Blueprint Dives (2005), was nominated for the Spellemannsprisen award for Best Metal Album. The band toured extensively with acts like Mastodon and Opeth, selling over 500,000 albums worldwide. Their final studio album, Extol, was released in 2013 before the band entered a hiatus.
