Biography

The Showdown is an American heavy metal band from Elizabethton, Tennessee. Originally known as 2540 and playing punk rock, they transitioned to a metal style under the guidance of guitarist Josh Childers. The band's first full-length album, A Chorus Of Obliteration, was released in 2004. Their second album, Temptation Come My Way (2006), featured a southern metal approach and included notable tracks like "Head Down" and "Fanatics and Whores". The Showdown gained significant traction with their appearance at Ozzfest 07 in March 2007. Subsequent albums include Back Breaker (2008) and Blood In The Gears (2010). The band went on hiatus from early 2011 to 2017, after which they posted studio snippets hinting at new material.
