Biography

Eszter Balint is a Hungarian-American singer, songwriter, and violinist. Balint began a career as a child member of the avant-garde Squat Theatre troupe in New York City. In 1983, Balint performed violin on the hip-hop record “Beat Bop” (1983) by Rammellzee and K-Rob. A cinematic debut occurred in the Jim Jarmusch film Stranger Than Paradise (1984). Music releases include the albums Flicker (1998) and Mud (2004), both produced by J.D. Foster. Balint has collaborated with artists including Michael Gira's Angels of Light, Marc Ribot's Los Cubanos Postizos, John Lurie, and Dayna Kurtz. Later recordings include the albums Airless Midnight (2015) and I Hate Memory! (2022). Balint also had a recurring role in the television series Louie in 2014.
