Erlend Apneseth, born on August 11, 1990, in Jølster, Sogn og Fjordane (Sunnfjord), Norway, is a hardingfele player and jazz and improvisation musician. His early background included training as a violinist. Apneseth's career began with the release of his debut album Blikkspor in 2013 on Grappa Records. He gained recognition for his critically acclaimed albums featuring his trio with Ãyvind Hegg-Lunde and Stephan Meidell. Notable releases included Nattsongar (2017), Fragmentarium (2020), and SlÃ¥ttesong (2021). Apneseth composed music for various genres, including cinema, theatre, dance performances, poetry, and musical ensembles. He performed as a soloist with the Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester and The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. His work was honored with several awards, such as the Gammleng-prisen in 2018 and the Spellemannprisen for Salika, Molika (2019), which was also nominated for the Nordic Music Prize.
