Biography

Erlend Apneseth, born on August 11, 1990, in Jølster, Sogn og Fjordane (Sunnfjord), Norway, is a hardingfele player and jazz and improvisation musician. His early background included training as a violinist. Apneseth's career began with the release of his debut album Blikkspor in 2013 on Grappa Records. He gained recognition for his critically acclaimed albums featuring his trio with Øyvind Hegg-Lunde and Stephan Meidell. Notable releases included Nattsongar (2017), Fragmentarium (2020), and Slåttesong (2021). Apneseth composed music for various genres, including cinema, theatre, dance performances, poetry, and musical ensembles. He performed as a soloist with the Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester and The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. His work was honored with several awards, such as the Gammleng-prisen in 2018 and the Spellemannprisen for Salika, Molika (2019), which was also nominated for the Nordic Music Prize.
