Erika Sawajiri, born on April 8, 1986 in Nerima, Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese singer and actress. She began her career as a junior model in 2001 after passing the Stardust audition. Sawajiri transitioned to acting in 2002 and gained recognition for her roles in films such as Mondai no nai Watashitachi and television dramas like Hotman. Her breakthrough in music came through the 2006 television drama TaiyÅ no Uta, where she released her first commercially-released song of the same name. The single was certified Million by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Sawajiri continued to release solo music under the name Erika, including her debut single "Free" in July 2007, which topped the Oricon Charts on its first day. In November 2007, she released the single "Destination Nowhere".
