Erdmöbel is a German indieâpop and jazz group formed in Münster and based in Cologne, led by vocalist, songwriter and writer Markus Berges, multiâinstrumentalist and producer Ekimas, keyboardist Wolfgang Proppe, and drummer Christian Wübben. The band emerged in 1994 and released its debut album Das Ende der Diät in 1996, followed by Erste Worte nach Bad mit Delfinen in 1999, which incorporated electronic elements. In 2000 the duo Ekimas and the group issued the electronic Erdmöbel versus Ekimas, featuring the first indieâradio hit. The 2003 release Altes Gasthaus Love shifted toward pop, while Fotoalbum (2004) presented a live acoustic bestâof. The 2005 album Für die nicht wissen wie explored 1960s easyâlistening pop, and 2007âs concept album No.â¯1 Hits covered international chartâtoppers translated into German. 2010âs Krokus expanded the brass section and introduced BossaâNova and Motown influences. The band founded its own label, jippie!â¯industrie, in 2013 and issued Kungâ¯Fuâ¯Fighting, a blend of modern classical, reggae, and Steely Dan references. Subsequent releases include Geschenk (2014), Geschenkâ¯+â¯3 (2015), Hinweise zum Gebrauch (2018), Gutenâ¯Morgen,â¯Ragazzi (2022), and the 2025 collaboration "Hätteâ¯Sehnsuchtâ¯Gewicht" with the Kaiser Quartet.
