Biography

Elias Rahbani, born in 1938 in Antelias, Lebanon, was a musician, composer, poet, and producer. He began his musical education at the Lebanese Academy and the National Conservatory of Lebanon. In 1958, Rahbani signed his first official contract with the BBC Lebanon to compose songs. He joined Radio Lebanon in 1962 as a director and musical advisor, collaborating with notable singers like Nasri Shamseddin on the song "Ma Ahlaha". Rahbani composed around 2,000 Eastern melodies and 500 Western compositions, created soundtracks for films like My Blood, My Tears, My Smile, and collaborated with artists including Fairuz. He received the Classical Music Prize at the Jeunesse Musicale in Beirut (1964). Rahbani passed away on January 4th, 2021.
