Biography

Elfriede Sepp, known professionally as Elfi Graf, was born on November 20, 1952, in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, Austria. She is a singer specializing in pop and schlager music. Graf began her musical journey with various amateur bands and underwent classical vocal training. Her early performances included operetta arias and blues titles, as well as appearances at talent competitions. In 1971, she won the television show Show Chance, which led to her discovery by Schlagersänger Gus Backus in the Talentschuppen. Graf's breakthrough came in 1974 with the hit "Herzen haben keine Fenster", which became an evergreen and reached the top 10 in both the USA and UK through different English versions. This success earned her the Goldene Europa award for best new singer and the Silbernen Bravo Otto. Subsequent hits included "Am schönsten ist es zu Hause" (1976) and "Mozartgasse 10" (1977). Graf took a hiatus from the music industry in the late 1970s to focus on her family, returning in 1990 with the song "Einen Adam, einen Apfel und ein kleines Paradies" for the German pre-selection of the Grand Prix der Volksmusik. She has continued to perform at various galas and released albums such as Wenn Es Schneit... (1977), Elfi Graf (1996), and Aber Dich vergess ich nie (2001).
