Buenos Airesâborn singer and songwriter Gaby DÃaz, known as El Tecla, came up through Argentinaâs cumbia scene in the 2000s and crystallized his solo profile with the 2009 debut album Ãnico en Su Especie, whose staples include âMÃrame a la Cara,â âTe Amo,â and breakout favorite âA Chillar a Otra Parte,â also picked up on the Parada Tropical, Volumen 2 compilation from that era. After steady regional touring, he issued the follow-up Aquel Que HabÃa Muerto in 2016, foregrounding the ballad-leaning âSi la Ves.â A return to broader activity arrived with El Regreso (Volumen 1) in 2021, then two 2022 projects, Inéditos and Sesión con los Ãxitos de la Ihuana Mary (En Vivo)âthe latter revisiting songs popularized by La Ihuana Mary and reaffirming his link to the cumbia villera songbook. He refreshed his catalog in 2023 with the single reissue of âA Chillar a Otra Parte,â a Part 2 update of âMÃrame a la Cara,â and a duet version of âA Chillar a Otra Parteâ with Huguito Flores el Super that broadened his streaming footprint. Momentum continued into 2024 via the album Latidos, pairing new material with covers and collaborationsâamong them âÃmameâ with Grupo Uno, a cumbia take on âUn Montón de Estrellas,â and the duet âLa Miel de tus Labiosâ featuring Jackita. Most recently, 2025 brought the singles âCosas Pendientesâ with El Rodri and âel peso de un ángelâ alongside Tres Seis Nueve, extending his mix of romantic cumbia and dancefloor-forward arrangements.
