Ego Ella May, born Ella May in Croydon, United Kingdom, on 13 March 1992, is a British‑Nigerian soul singer who began performing in her late teens and taught herself guitar, beat‑making, and production at nineteen. Her breakthrough came in 2014 with the EP Breathing Underwater, followed by the EP Zero, both of which received praise from AFROPUNK and SPIN for their blend of soul, jazz, and electronic elements. In 2018 the track "Table for One" was highlighted by The New York Times and featured in the soundtrack for Sex Education. Ego Ella May released the single "Tea & Sympathy" in 2019, and in 2020 issued "Give A Little" and "How Long Til’ We’re Home?", the latter reflecting her dual cultural identity.
