Eddie Hodges, born Eddie Hodges on March 5, 1947, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, United States, is an American singer and actor. At age ten, he made his professional acting debut in the Broadway musical The Music Man, where he introduced the song "Gary, Indiana". In 1958, Eddie Hodges released his first single, a duet with Julia Meade titled "How Would It Be Up There?". His breakthrough came in 1961 when his cover of "I'm Gonna Knock on Your Door" by The Isley Brothers reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. He continued to release singles throughout the early 1960s, including 1962's "(Girls, Girls, Girls) Made To Love" and "Seein' Is Believin'". Eddie Hodges also appeared in several films, notably A Hole in the Head (1959) with Frank Sinatra, where he performed "High Hopes", winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song. He later starred in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1960), Advise and Consent (1962), Summer Magic (1963), and The Happiest Millionaire (1967). Eddie Hodges' music career spanned from 1958 to 1967, during which he released a total of 15 singles. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and pursued a career in counseling after earning degrees in Psychology and Counseling from the University of Southern Mississippi.
