Eduardo Lincoln Barbosa de Sabóia, known professionally as Ed Lincoln, was born on May 31, 1932, in Fortaleza, Brazil. Inspired by Rhapsody in Blue, he began playing piano at 16 and moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1950 to study architecture but became immersed in the local music scene. He formed a trio with Luiz Eça and Johnny Alf, transitioning to bass and becoming notable in bossa nova's early days. In 1958, Lincoln started playing the Hammond organ at the Drink Club, leading to his solo album Ao teu ouvido that November. Throughout the 1960s, he released several albums, including This is Ed Lincoln (1961), and collaborated with artists like Eumir Deodato. In 1968, he founded De Savoya Discos, releasing an eponymous album showcasing his versatility. Notable compositions include "O Ganso" and "à o Cid." He passed away on July 16, 2012, in Rio de Janeiro.
