Biography

Revealed by his intense collaboration with trumpeter Enrico Rava in 1996, pianist and composer Stefano Bollani (b. 1972) is now a leading figure in contemporary European jazz. In his complexly written universe, the sweet melodies of Italian chanson, rich harmonies and voluble improvisations meet. This loyal companion of the ECM label records Stone in the Water (2009) and Joy in Spite of Everything (2014) as a trio. In 2015, his album Sheik Yer Zappa pays homage to a figure of experimental rock: Frank Zappa.
