Biography
Eastern Sidekick, a South Korean indie rock band formed in 2010, debuted under Fluxus Music in 2013. The group consisted of Juhwan Oh on vocals, Hangyul Ko on lead guitar and main songwriter, Sanghwan Bae on bass guitar, Inhyuk Ryu on guitars, and Geunchang Park on drums. Their name was inspired by their Asian roots and a desire to break conventional norms. Eastern Sidekick gained recognition in the Korean indie music scene with awards such as Rookie of the Years at the Olleh Music Indie Awards (2010) and EBS Hello Rookie 2010. Notable albums include The First (2012) and Total Reflection (2015). The band also performed at various international festivals such as Music Matters Live 2013 in Singapore and Summersonic 2013 in Japan. Eastern Sidekick disbanded in May 2016.
