Crying Nut (크라잉넛) is a pioneering South Korean punk rock band, often credited with shaping the country’s punk and indie rock scenes. Formed in 1993 in Seoul's vibrant Hongdae club scene, the band consists of five talented members: Park Yoon-Sik (vocals, guitars), Lee Sang-Myun (guitars), Lee Sang-Hyuk (drums), Han Kyung-Rock (bass), and Kim In-Soo (keyboards, accordion). Their music blends punk rock with traditional Korean influences, creating a distinct sound that has captivated audiences for decades. Crying Nut’s debut album, Speed Up Losers, released in 1998, was a massive success, selling over 100,000 copies and establishing them as a cornerstone of Korean punk. Their energetic performances during the 2002 FIFA World Cup brought them national fame, making their anthems synonymous with South Korea’s football celebrations. The band has released eight studio albums as of 2018, including Circus Magic Clowns (1999), Poor Hand Love Song (2001), and Flaming Nuts (2013). Known for their dynamic live shows, they’ve also put out live albums like Crying Nut Best Wild Wild Live (2003).
