Dur-Dur Band was a musical group from Mogadishu, Somalia. Formed in the 1980s, they became prominent on the Mogadishu disco scene, inspired by artists like Michael Jackson and Bob Marley. Their sound blended funk, disco, and soul. The band featured singers Sahra Abukar Dawo, Abdinur Adan Daljir, Mohamed Ahmed Qomal, and Abdukadir Mayow Buunis. By 1987, they had released albums including Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 5. Their music was popular in Somalia and neighboring countries like Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Kenya. The band disbanded in the early 1990s due to political instability. In March 2013, their 1987 cassette release Volume 5 was re-released by Awesome Tapes From Africa, receiving wide critical acclaim. Dur-Dur Band International, co-founded by Abdillahi Ujeeri and Liban Noah in September 2011, continues to perform worldwide.
