Biography
Milcho Isakov Leviev, born on December 19, 1937, in Plovdiv, Kingdom of Bulgaria, was a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. He graduated from the National Music Academy "Prof. Pantscho Vladigerow" in 1960 and began his career as a composer at the Drama Theater in Plovdiv. Leviev led the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio from 1962 to 1966 and co-founded Jazz Focus â65 in 1965, touring internationally until 1970. He left Bulgaria in 1970, moving to Los Angeles. He collaborated with artists like Don Ellis, Billy Cobham, Art Pepper, and Al Jarreau. Leviev released notable albums including Music For Big Band And Symphony Orchestra (1981) and First Meeting (1986). He passed away on October 12, 2019.
