Biography

Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem, an American Muppet rock group, debuted in 1975 on The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence, serving as the house band for The Muppet Show. The band consisted of Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone, and Lips on trumpet. Their first film role was performing "Can You Picture That?" in The Muppet Movie. Notable performances include "Night Life" in The Great Muppet Caper, and "Jingle Bell Rock" in A Muppet Family Christmas. Following the deaths of puppeteers Jim Henson and Richard Hunt, their appearances became limited to instrumental background music. However, they backed Miss Piggy in The Muppets' Wizard of Oz and performed with Miley Cyrus in Studio DC: Almost Live. They also starred in The Muppets Mayhem, a series about recording their first eponymous studio album, which premiered in 2023.
