Doug Wamble, born Samuel Douglas Wamble on October 22, 1972, in Clarksville, Tennessee, is an American jazz guitarist and vocalist. Inspired by Charlie Christian's records, Wamble initially pursued audio engineering at Memphis State University but switched his focus after seeing Harry Connick Jr. and Russell Malone perform live. He earned a master's degree from Northwestern University and formed a band with Roy Dunlap, Jeff Hanley, and Peter Miles during his time at the University of North Florida. In 1997, Wamble moved to New York City where he collaborated with Wynton Marsalis on Big Train (1999) and Cassandra Wilson's Traveling Miles (1999), leading to a signing with Marsalis Music. His debut album, Country Libations (2003), was released to the public. He contributed music to several documentaries directed by Ken Burns, including The War, The 10th Inning, and Prohibition. Wamble produced Morgan James' album Hunter (2014). Other notable releases include the albums Bluestate (2005) and Doug Wamble (2010).
