Donovan Melero, born in Chico, California, is an American singer. He formed the post-hardcore band Hail the Sun with Shane Gann, Aric Garcia, and John Stirrat in 2009 while attending college. The band released their debut album POW! Right In the Kisser! independently in 2010, followed by the EP Elephantitis in 2012. Hail the Sun signed to Blue Swan Records in 2013 and released their second studio album Wake in 2014. The band later moved to Equal Vision Records, releasing Culture Scars in 2016, which charted at Number 38 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. Notable singles include "Paranoia" (2016) and "1109" (2017). Hail the Sun has toured extensively with bands such as Dance Gavin Dance and I the Mighty, and performed at festivals like Chain Fest and South By So What?! Donovan Melero's vocal style is often compared to that of Anthony Green.
